Preparing For Your REST

  • We recommend you avoid shaving for about six hours before your appointment; the saltwater can irritate freshly shaven skin. If you have any small cuts, cover them with the non-petroleum based jelly we provide.

  • You may have an easier time settling into your float if you avoid caffeine, nicotine, and other forms of stimulants before your session. Six hours is recommended.

  • Have a snack or small meal 60-90 minutes prior.

  • To ensure total relaxation of all guests we ask you leave children and pets at home. Service animals are welcome

  • You have had your hair colored (bleach is okay) recently or a spray tan. The recommended wait time is 10 days. This will ensure that the tank solution will not discolor your hair, and your hair or spray tan will not discolor our solution. *no semi-permeable hair dye and any hair dye that is pink, purple, blue, green etc, needs prior approval to Float-they bleed much easier into our water

  • You are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  • You have uncontrolled diabetes.

  • You have a new tattoo. The recommended wait time is four weeks.

  • You have epilepsy that is not medically controlled and supervised.

  • You have an infectious disease or large cuts or open wounds.

  • You are unable to enter or exit the tank without assistance. Please bring a chaperone if you feel you may need assistance-we can not assist you.

  • If pregnant please consult your doctor.

  • What should I wear for my float, and do I need to bring anything with me?
It is traditional to float in the nude. You have complete privacy so garments are unnecessary. The material against the skin could cause irritation and/or harm to the solution. If you are uncomfortable, you may wear a clean bathing suit and bring a plastic bag to store your wet things in afterward, but it is not recommended. We provide you with everything you need for your appointment however you may wish to bring a brush or comb for after.
  • How do you clean the water?
The solution is run through a filter at all times unless paused for a float session. Each tank is continually treated with UV Light and Ozone Therapy. We test and treat the solution daily with 35% grade Hydrogen Peroxide. The solution is very sterile.
  • Can I float if I just dyed my hair?
Although we would love to see you, we ask that you wait 7 to 10 business days after your last hair dye treatment before floating.
  • What if I am claustrophobic?
You have more control over your float experience and the environment than you think. You may crack the lid or leave it open. Once you see for yourself how large the pods are and how much room you actually have, most are not concerned any longer. You’re always in control of your environment, and even people with extreme claustrophobia have reported having no problems with their time in the pod.
  • Can I drown if I fall asleep?
Nope! Falling asleep during your float is a desired effect. One hour of sleep during your float is equivalent to 4 hours of REST. The high concentration of pharmaceutical-grade Epsom salt (approx 1,000 lbs) in every pod, naturally causes the body to remain afloat, much like a cork, making it virtually impossible to sink or to turn over if you sleep. Therefore, there is no need to worry about the risk of drowning. And, knowing how to swim is not a prerequisite for floating, as all you have to be able to do is lie back, and the salt water will take care of the rest.
  • How many times do I need to float before I see results?
You should absolutely see results after your first session! In fact, we like for you to note where your discomfort level is before your float so you have something to compare it to when you get out. Our team loves hearing all the success stories afterward.
  • Can I float if I am pregnant?
Flotation therapy is a great way for pregnant women (after medical clearance from their physician) to relax and alleviate the aches & pains put on their bodies during pregnancy. Floatation therapy takes the pressure off of your back, legs, and joints, while magnesium helps with inflammation, promotes better sleep, and helps to reduce stress. it is recommended that women who are pregnant and breastfeeding consume 20% more magnesium per day than the average person. Floating is a great way to replenish this vital mineral. *Pregnant women may experience a bonding “mirror effect” when floating. This is where the pregnant woman in a sensory-reduced environment mimics the experience her baby has within her womb. Some mothers-to-be also report feeling their baby move more during a float, perhaps because they aren’t exerting as much physical or mental energy on their other senses while floating. ** Pregnant women should ALWAYS consult with their Midwife or OB-GYN before floating.
  • Is flotation therapy covered by medical insurance, commercial or Medicare/Medicaid?"
Elevate Float Center does not process medical claims of any kind. However, your flotation therapy may qualify to be paid using your healthcare flexible spending account. You would be responsible for determining this and requesting payment from your HSA.
